Welcome to English language arts with Ms. Briggs! I am so happy that you are here.

I believe that students (and people) learn best when they believe they are important members of a community and that what they create matters. Which is why we are going to be approaching literature, media, and writing a little differently this year...

To start us off, I would like you to create your very own blog with Blogger. You will need a Google email address to do so. 

Once you're there, create a username and password. You will need both every time you want to blog, so make sure you note them somewhere they won't get lost! (Maybe the class schedule? Or your planner? Your favorite book? The notes in your phone?) After you have done this, you will need to...

1. Give your blog a title (example: mine is "english + language arts 2019")

2. Choose an address (example: mine is "msbriggs-ela.blogspot.com")

3. Select a design for your blog (this can be changed later! Don't get stuck deciding -- we have "work" to do!)

BOOM! Your blog is created. You have made something that is your own.

Once you have finished setting up your blog, comment below with YOUR name and a link to your blog.

Then I want you to write your very first entry, which is:

"What if?" What do you make of this question? What thoughts come to mind? How does hearing or reading the question make you feel about yourself, your community, and the world? Write your response. This can be a poem, a story (fiction or otherwise), a bulleted list, a series of sentences and phrases... however you decide to approach it, remember to reflect on how you relate to it.
